White-winged Flufftail
Sarothrura ayresii

Although not strictly a "rarity" in the true sense of the word, this is one of the most sought after resident birds in Southern Africa mainly because of its skulking habits and because so little is known about its movements. A mass twitch was arranged on 26 February 2005 at one of its known localities at the Middelpunt Wetland in Dullstroom where at least 3 different individuals were seen.

Photographed by Clive Kaplan.
