Asiatic Dowitcher
Limnodromus semipalmatus

First reported on 11 November 2004 at Leeupan in Benoni near Johannesburg. This represents the first record for Southern Africa and the second for Africa, with a previous record from Kenya in November 1966. This bird has already created quite a stir amongst local birders with many people coming from all over the country to see it.

Photographed by John Graham.
