Snowy Egret
Egretta thula

First reported from Zandvlei on the Cape Peninsula on 23 April 2002. The bird disappeared for a while but was relocated on 29 April 2002. This bird normally occurs in the southern half of North America and migrates to South America. This consitutes the first record of this species for Southern Africa and for the African continent!
